If there's any chef you would be scared to cook and talk to but dream of being treated to one of the dishes he makes, it'll always be Gordon Ramsay with zero doubts. The most famous celebrity chef of 56 years is still the king of nightmares to many cooks out in the world to work with due to his temper and foul mouth but still one of the biggest inspirations and motivations for most people.
Early days
Born in Scotland in 1966 to a family of four kids, the family was poor and struggling and on the constant move across Scotland to keep their lives on hold. Gordon's father Gordon James Sr., was a severe alcoholic and made lives miserable to the family. Despite all hardships and his mother standalone trying to make it for the kids, Gordon was amidst harsh conditions where he had to work from a small age to help his mom and family. Working as a pot washer at an Indian restaurant aspiring to be a footballer, Gordon made it to the professional football Glasgow Rangers team but due to injury and internal politics was quickly cut off from the team.
Beginning of the new journey
Having the urge to pursue something different Gordon got vocational culinary education at North Oxfordshire Technical College and eventually started working at Wroxton House Hotel as a commis and eventually at Harveys and then to Le Gavroche. Working for 18 - 20 hrs a day, 7 days a week with all hardships of tireless work, rage, pressure and perfection, Gordon made the career of Sous Chef, Private Chef and eventually Head Chef.
Life as a Head Chef and a Restaurateur
Starting off as a Head Chef in La Tanta Claire and thereby in Aubergine under Marco Pierre White, Gordon made a great success and all these restaurants were awarded Michelin stars (the highest accolade given to restaurants). After issues with business partners at Aubergine restaurant, Gordon ventured into his first owned restaurant in 1999, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay at Hospital St. London. Simply after three years in 2001, the Restaurant Gordon Ramsay gained three Michelin stars and stands still to date as the longest three Michelin star restaurant in the whole world.
Currently, he owns and operates more than 58+ restaurants all throughout the UK, USA, Korea, Dubai, Singapore, France, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Lucky Cat, Bread Street Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay Bar and Grill, Gordon Ramsay Street Burger, Gordon Ramsay Street Pizza, Gordon Ramsay Fish n Chips, Maze Grill, and Gordon Ramsay Steak are a few examples.
Television and Cooking Shows, competitions
Gordon first gained fame through a BBC documentary which aired in 2000, Ramsay's Boiling Point where he was showcased leading his Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and for the fiery temper and actions he took for his staff. This fame made controversial topics about Gordon all throughout the UK. Soonly, Ramsay started his own productions such as Kitchen Nightmares, MasterChef, Hell's Kitchen, Hotel Hell, Next Level Chef, and F-Word. Ramsay gained worldwide fame through these shows and was made the richest, most famous celebrity chef of all.
MasterChef, Next Level Chef, MasterChef Junior, F-Word, Ramsays Best Restaurants and Hell's Kitchen were global cooking competitions for all amateur and real chefs and all these shows were made as reality shows.
Books
Gordon authored books ranging from, cookbooks, biographies, restaurants, cooking adventures, kitchen experiences etc. Passion for Flavour, Playing with Fire, Passion for Seafood, Ramsay's Best Menus, Cooking for Friends, and Gordon Ramsay's Fast Food are a few books he authored.
Life Today
Gordon spends his life busy as usual after all the years and still maintains his speedy pace across multiple dimensions such as media, hosting, cooking etc. He is a father of five and still develops news shows and establishes restaurants. He is less in his own restaurants as the chef and in operations and mostly acts as the chair and has let his employees work and run the restaurants. He holds a net worth of more than $220 million dollars and has partnered with businesses other than restaurants and media and into sports as well.
